L.E.A.P.

In February of 2009, a committee of six Lathem employees was formed in order to assess the company's energy usage, elicit & manage suggestions from co-workers on ways to reduce, reuse and recycle, as well as determine short and long term goals to minimize the company's carbon footprint.
To date, a majority of these ideas have been implemented and have helped the company not only reduce energy usage and costs, but begin the process of evaluating environmentally friendly business practices internally, within our supply chain and ultimately at the consumer level.

These are just a few of the changes we've implemented thus far:
Reduced our plastic
trash bag consumption from an average of 1500 per month to 200-300
per month.
Stopped purchasing
styrofoam cups. Everyone uses their own reusable cup.
We are reusing
packing material from our vendors (bubble wrap and paper).
Our Maintenance
personnel have rewired many areas of our building in order to
reduce lighting in unoccupied rooms and areas.
We managed to reduce
our energy consumption by over 30% in 2009 as compared to 2008.
This is an exciting outcome of our actions and yet another
testimony to Lathem employee commitment.
